The National Medical Weight Loss Programme (NMWLP) offers medical support, advice, education and treatment options to help lose weight. It is approved by the nursing and obesity associations.
How does it work
The NMWLP is designed to help control the appetite, curb hunger, suppress cravings, reduce portion sizes and release stored fat, to help lose weight. It does this by using prescribed medication, that is self-administered at home.
The first step if a full medical consultation with our Registered Nurse. This appointment will explore the weight loss options as well as your over-all health and well-being.
Should medication be suitable, this is self-administered at home each day or week (depending on the treatment choice), using an easy-to-use pen that is pre-filled with the medication.
Your initial Consultation will be carried out in-clinic with the nurse and will last up to 1 hour. Treatment is then prescribed to take at home, with regular Review Consultations taking place throughout the treatment programme.
The NMWLP is suitable for those who are medically overweight or obese, and need help with controlling and managing weight loss. The prescribed medications can be used for anyone between 18-75 with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of 27 when there are any other weight-related health issues present, such as high blood pressure or abnormal levels of fats (lipids).
As with any new medication, you may experience some short-term side effects, which is why the NMWLP is a medically supervised programme and you will be monitored throughout. The most common side effects are nausea, indigestion, constipation or diarrhoea. However, all of these usually settle within a short period.

Cost below is per months programme (medication) – You can have a maximum of 3 months in total.
